How Birth Choice Began

Birth Choice Health Clinics was started in 1981 in Mission Viejo, California. In 1988, Placentia opened followed by Irvine opening as the first medical clinic in 2005. In 2006 we opened our newest clinic in Santa Ana where we sit in the midst of 4 abortion clinics within a block each way. Up until 2005, Birth Choice Health Clinics was completely volunteer run. Now each center has a Clinic Director and a part time Staff Nurse. We still rely heavily on our volunteers who serve as Client Advocates, Bridges Educators and Nurses.

Our conversion from resource centers to medical clinics opened doors to offer ultrasounds, which allow us to introduce a woman to her baby for the first time. Through generous grants from Focus on the Family we have a brand new ultrasound in 3 of our clinics. They have also provided us training for our nurses to be certified in limited obstetrical ultrasound scanning. STD testing is offered to women and men.
